Book of the dead

When Unity released the original Book of the Dead environment on the Asset Store, I was very excited, as I’m sure many of you were. I even made this video to demonstrate how my characters look, and they look great!

Unfortunately, the Book of the Dead was built with a custom version of HDRP, and isn’t compatible with other HDRP or standard shader projects, which is a big bummer.

Conversion Project

We spent a bunch of time rebuilding the project for the Unity standard shader, including creating new textures in Substance Painter. The goal was to make these assets work with the standard shader, non-HDRP projects.

The project looks great, and now we use it for our character demo scenes, because who doesn’t like pretty things, right?

The pack is not at all required to make the characters work, and I don’t suggest bringing it into your project unless you plan on using it for your levels. If you want the demo scenes to look like our demo videos, you’ll need to import the conversion pack, and the environment will show up.
