What’s in the pack
Battle Sound Library starts with about 500 individual clips for magic and melee combat in a fantasy RPG. They’re made to be mixed and matched, so the parts combine into thousands of unique sounds.
The magic sounds cover nine types: air, earth, electric, evil/dark, fire, holy/light, ice, poison and water. Each has multiple explosions and hits, plus long and short warmups. Generic buffs, hums, pulses, and spell fizzles and fails layer on top, so you can build a sound that fits each spell.
The melee sounds pair weapons with targets. You get axe, bow and arrow, club, fist, shield and sword sounds against flesh, metal and wood. Each group has 125 combinations built from its weapon, target and impact sounds.
Put magic and melee together for magical weapons, like a fire sword or a dark club.
Make it your own
The library comes with our Audio Clip Combiner, a Unity tool that layers clips into new sounds. You can use it in two ways:
- Combine clips at random at runtime, so repeated hits and spells don’t all sound the same.
- Sample random combinations in the Editor with the Play Random Sample button, then export your favorites with a single click.
Setting up layers is quick. Choose a folder to add all of its clips to a layer, or point a new Audio Clip Combiner at a parent folder and each sub-folder with audio becomes a layer of its own. The combiner handles mono exports too, and you can mix in audio from other packages.
Our tutorial, Audio and our Audio Clip Combiner Tool, shows how it works.
Made by people, not AI
Every clip is human-made. A sound designer recorded the weapon foley, and the same designer created the magic sounds. All of it was made before generative audio AI was available.
