What’s in the pack
Bomber Bug is one animated insect monster that walks, flies and blows itself up. Its design works in fantasy and sci-fi games alike, so it can be a swamp pest in one project and an alien drone in another.
The pack comes with ready-made textures and materials, sound effects and a demo scene. On Unity 6.0 the materials and demo ship in the Built-in Render Pipeline, and you can upgrade the Standard Shader materials to URP or HDRP in the Editor. On Unity 6.3 they ship in URP.
Owning the pack also unlocks three free Bonus Files packages on the Asset Store:
- Bonus Files 1: concept art as layered PSD and PNG files
- Bonus Files 2: files for the Atavism MMO platform
- Bonus Files 3: custom music
Make it your own
The Bomber Bug is built from sub-meshes, one for each section of its body, and you can turn any of them on or off. Take off the wings, the armor, the pincers or the horns, or turn it into a four-legged bug.
Mesh morphing goes further. Blend shapes change the bug’s shape, and the Blend Shapes Manager script saves and loads presets, sets limits on each shape and randomizes them. Because it works at runtime, each bug in a swarm can spawn with its own shape.
Put the two together and one pack covers a whole family of bugs: armored and bare, winged and wingless, horned and plain. The layered concept art is useful reference when you plan new variations.
Bundles and the low poly Bomber Bug
Bomber Bug is part of Monster Collection #1. There’s also a separate low poly Bomber Bug made to work with Synty Studios’ POLYGON packs, with mesh morphing and color-shifting textures, and it’s part of Low Poly Monster Bundle 1.
